PARC rejects allegations over scientific recruitment

Council hired scientists on merit from all provinces, including gold medalists and experts in agricultural technologies, says spokesperson

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC) has denied allegations challenging the merit of its recent scientific recruitments, describing them as baseless and misleading.

A PARC spokesperson said the council hired scientists purely on merit from across all provinces, many of whom are gold medalists and specialists in modern agricultural technologies. The spokesperson explained that converting non-scientific roles into scientific positions was within the Chairman’s legal authority and aimed at enhancing the council’s research capacity.

Under the leadership of Chairman Dr. Ghulam Muhammad Ali, PARC has secured over Rs. 10 billion in international grants and gained recognition at both national and international levels, including awards from Pakistan and South Korea. The council is also partnering with China, the US, Japan, and Korea to introduce advanced agricultural technologies in Pakistan.

With 40 research centres operating across the country, PARC is active in key areas such as crops, livestock, fisheries, biotechnology, and seed conservation. The spokesperson added that the corruption allegations are being spread by dismissed employees and confirmed that legal action is being pursued.
