We are the masks

The heartbreaking news pieces of corona casualties have been emerging from every nook and corner worldwide up till date. Almost a year on, the bloody pandemic has been playing havoc with the lives of the people out there across the world. My recent visits to so many newspaper websites from across the world online have shown me a not-so-good picture of the current situation. Continuing emotional stories, existing corona death toll and multiple difficulties posing to the people have all been different sad stories.

The East or the West, the people have been handling the pandemic crisis through all methods and procedures possible. However, confusing signals and bizarre situations are all pointing to the fact that still, something scientific has been found missing on the ground despite those serious efforts to tackle the pandemic. Sometimes, hope gives us the strength required to stand up to the current crisis.

Americans have been hopeful of a permanent solution to the current political crisis due to voter fraud charges levelled. Just as we have been having a continued fight with the climate crisis, today is the day to fight the pandemic head-to-head. How about those COVID Standard Operating Procedures?  Time and again, the corona safety measures have been explained across to the people. But the situation has gone out of control over and over again, catching the people unawares.

COVID vaccines apart, the so-called mask mandate is the need of the hour now. Just a few days into the whole new year, let us all pledge to wear masks as much as possible to control this virus disease as soon as possible. Interestingly enough, all my family members were following the basic corona rules like mask mandate during my father’s death anniversary held recently at home.

Also, my businessman brother with his family had been following all COVID rules to travel between Mumbai and Tuticorin back and forth. I have been following and spreading this important message to friends and others in my native areas like Korkai, Tuticorin, Tiruchendur, Tirunelveli, Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu. Finally, one day the whole idea behind this letter had come to me all of a sudden.

So it is all about our own mindsets that make a difference. Hence, the corona fight seriously involves the attitude of everyone out there. It is the people’s efforts that are the real strategies to kill the virus. After all, we the people are the masks and our attitude to the crisis situation is the real vaccine shot against the bloody virus.
