Lahore: The National Transmission and Despatch Company Limited (NTDC) on Tuesday said that one unit of the Patrind hydro-power plant has started generating electricity on a trial basis and has been connected to the national grid. Many transmission line projects are expected to undergo completion this year and out of a total of 1,123 km 500 KV projects being laid out, most of them are already on the 60-90pc construction stage, said the official. The 614 km KV transmission line projects are in 62-98pc construction phases right now.
NTDC official also added that rehabilitation of its 2000 MVA transportation capacity has also been carried out alongside the addition of new power transformers in recently constructed substations at 220 KV Gujrat, 220 KV Chishtian and the enlargement of three 250 MVA transformers at 220KV Burhan, 220 KV Ludewala substations and at 500 KV Sheikh Muhammadi.
This plant has been connected through a 132 KV double circuit transmission circuit transmission line to the Muzaffarabad-II grid station in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK). Once the plant becomes fully operational and attains optimum generation, it is expected to provide relief to the masses in the AJK/Hazara region alongside a separate power transmission line will also be linked with the 220 KV Mansehra grid station which will decrease the power outages and fix the voltage issues in the aforementioned areas, said the NTDC official.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to finish power outages from the country and highlighted that many power plants had already been given transmission interconnection facilities amounting to a capacity of 6,164 megawatt (MW).
