ISLAMABAD: The newly appointed World Bank Country Director for Pakistan, Bolormaa Amgaabazar, met with Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Cheema on Tuesday to discuss ongoing development cooperation.
According to a statement, outgoing Country Director Najy Benhassine also attended the meeting.
Cheema welcomed Amgaabazar and expressed appreciation for Benhassine’s contributions during his tenure. He acknowledged Benhassine’s efforts in strengthening World Bank engagement with Pakistan and establishing a strong framework for partnership.
The minister said he was confident that Amgaabazar would continue to advance the World Bank’s Country Partnership Framework (CPF) and build on the progress made under her predecessor’s leadership.
Cheema noted that the federal government, with support from the World Bank and other development partners, is assisting provincial governments in implementing development projects.
He also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to fiscal, energy, and economic reforms focused on achieving long-term, sustainable outcomes.
The World Bank representatives commended the government’s reform efforts and collaboration with provincial governments. They also acknowledged the Ministry of Economic Affairs’ role in coordinating and implementing development initiatives.
