OpenAI says it is not part of Robinhood token offer

Robinhood says it will give EU users 5 euros in OpenAI and SpaceX tokens if they register to trade stock tokens by July 7

OpenAI said on Wednesday it has no partnership with Robinhood and is not involved in the stock tokens the trading platform launched earlier this week.

Robinhood announced on Monday that it would give eligible users in the European Union 5 euros worth of OpenAI and SpaceX tokens if they register to trade stock tokens by July 7.

In a post on X, OpenAI said it does not endorse the tokens and was not part of the offering.

A spokesperson for Robinhood said the giveaway is a limited offer made possible through its stake in a special purpose vehicle, though the company did not name the vehicle.

Stock tokens have drawn attention as a possible way to change how investors access securities, especially those tied to private companies. However, linking tokens to private shares faces challenges due to strict trading rules.
