ISLAMABAD: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) approved a reduction in power tariff of Rs 3.11 per unit on account of fuel adjustment for the month of November 2017, here on Thursday.
As a result of a public hearing, chaired by NEPRA Chairman Tariq Sadozai, held to review a petition filed by the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA-G), NEPRA announced that it will give consumers a relief of Rs 3.11 per unit for the month of November.
The CPPA had previously filed a petition demanding a decrease of Rs 1.47 per unit on account of fuel adjustment. However, the request for Rs 15.77 billion was rejected by power regulator leading to a higher reduction in the tariff.
As a result, the consumers are set to receive a relief upwards of Rs 25 billion which will be adjusted in next month’s bills.
This adjustment will be available to domestic consumers throughout Pakistan, except for K-Electric consumers. Domestic consumers using up to 300 units per month will also be excluded from the adjustment.
CPPA-G requested that it had charged consumers a reference tariff of Rs 7.3040 per unit in November against the actual fuel cost of Rs 5.8313 per unit, requesting a reduction of Rs 1.4727 per unit.
