KARACHI: Pakistan’s nascent information technology sector exports have risen over $5 billion, said co-founder of 10XC, Saif Akhtar on sidelines of a press conference on Momentum 18, a two-day tech start-up conference.
10XC, which is a technology start-up accelerator and seed fund will be part of Momentum 18 tech start-up conference being held on February 19th and 20th, reported an English daily.
Mr. Akhtar said Pakistani IT exports stood at $3.3 billion during FY 2016-17, which had almost doubled to $5.5 billion and is expected to rise to $6 billion by 2019.
According to co-founder of 10XC over 300 start-ups are expected to participate in the event.
Over 50 practicing professionals and entrepreneurs are expected to conduct relevant workshops and seminars on successful startups and survival as an entrepreneur.
Furthermore, the participating startups will be able to pitch their proposals to more than 20 investors and various representatives from 20 incubators during the two-day event.
The country’s IT industry is expanding at a breathtaking pace in various categories which include, marketing tech by 15 pc, enterprise software 17 percent, financial services 13 percent, retail/e-commerce 8 percent, consumer goods 9 percent, professional services 8 percent, healthcare 4 percent, non-profit 3 percent and media 4 percent.
