CDWP refers four mega projects worth Rs213bn to ECNEC

ISLAMABAD: The Central Development Working Party (CDWP) meeting on Tuesday approved two projects worth Rs3.33 billion and recommended four projects worth Rs213.20 billion to the Executive Committee of National Economic Council (ECNEC) for consideration.

During the meeting, held under the chair of Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Dr Muhammad Jahanzeb Khan, projects related to information technology, health, governance, physical planning & housing and transport & communications were presented.

The first project related to the health sector was titled ‘Prime Minister’s National Health Programme (phase 2)’. The project, worth Rs31.93 billion, was referred to ECNEC for further approval.

The second project ‘Establishment of Safe Blood Transfusion Service in Islamabad Capital Territory’, worth Rs102.857 million, was approved by CDWP.

Meanwhile, all three projects related to the transport & communications sector were referred to ECNEC for approval. The first project titled ‘Construction of Peshawar-Turkham Motorway project as part of Khyber Pass Economic Corridor Project’ was worth Rs41.44 billion, the second project ‘Construction of BRT Red Line Project’ was worth Rs78.38 billion while the third project ‘Karachi Urban Mobility Project (Yellow BRT Corridor)’ amounted to Rs61.43 billion.

A physical planning & housing sector-related project titled ‘Construction of AJK Legislative Assembly Complex’ worth Rs2.85 billion was approved by the CDWP.
