PM breaks ground for prefabricated housing project

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday performed groundbreaking of the ‘Prefabricated Housing’ Project in Islamabad, Radio Pakistan reported.

Addressing the ceremony, the prime minister said the project would help provide affordable houses to the ordinary people in the shortest possible time.

He said prefabricated houses would be established in big cities like Karachi and Lahore where many people have been residing in shanties as land is extremely expensive there.

The PM said prefabricated houses could be set up within three to four months while construction of flats takes three to four years.

He said housing, agriculture, exports and relocation of industry from China are among the top priorities of his government.

Emphasizing the need to increase agricultural productivity, he said enhanced agricultural production would have an impact on economic growth and increase in exports would enhance foreign exchange reserves.

He said Board of Investment, the Ministry of Commerce and other relevant departments are taking steps to make investment in Pakistan easy and fully facilitate the business community.

The plant for prefabricated homes is being set up by leading Chinese Company Henan DR Construction Group at the M-3 Special Economic Zone.
