Govt to tighten noose around real estate conmen: SAPM

Bukhari says govt will soon establish a 'fast-track court' in Islamabad to resolve land disputes of overseas Pakistanis within days

ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development Sayed Zulfikar Abbas Bukhari said on Friday that the government would soon launch a crackdown on illegal housing societies.

“The prime minister, in a recent meeting of National Coordination Committee on Construction (NCCC), has stressed the need for evolving a mechanism which can protect the overseas Pakistanis from tricksters of real estate sector, who trap innocent overseas Pakistanis through fake promotional campaigns on digital media,” Bukhari said while talking to media.

He said that the government, in consultation with regional land development authorities, would soon introduce new laws that would define rules for advertisements in the real estate sector.

He also hinted at the arrival of the first-ever “fast-track court” in the federal capital. “Once established, the courts will decide the matters related to land disputes of overseas Pakistanis within days.”

Meanwhile, the SAPM also inaugurated the Machine-Readable Passport (MRP) facility at the Overseas Pakistanis Foundation (OPF) headquarters to facilitate expats and their families.

The MRP facility is an addition to the already set up desks of the OPF Membership Card, Foreign Exchange Remittance Card (FERC), National Database & Registration Authority
(NADRA) Swift Center and Complaint Resolution System.

“Overseas Pakistanis will now get all the essential services, including OPF membership card, NICOP and FERC under one roof as the OPF office has been transformed into one window facility,” he remarked.

Suggest to please consider to the implementation/enforcement of Land Record Management System, which is a computerised record of all properties, and save the owner from fake records. Punjab has it for a long time, Karachi has nothing of this sort. The Land record management System is provided by the WBG and should be considered for a fake industry flourishing in Karachi.
