PSX would be ranked as ‘Emerging Market’ in May: US MSCI

US Modern Index Strategy Indexes (MSCI) has decided to rank Pakistan Stock Exchange’s (PSX) market as “Emerging Market” this year, in the month of May.

In a report, issued by the US’s MSCI department, said that the performance of the PSX market remains on the top amongst all the Asian countries since the previous year, with an increase of 35pc in MSCI exchange-trade fund of PSX.

It was also mentioned that a mid-term review of the Pakistan Index has been conducted this year, and during this, the Pakistan Stock Exchange Market Index would be ranked as an “Emerging Market”.

According to a British newspaper, Economist, an increase in Pakistan’s GDP led to betterment in poverty alleviation, the increase of middle class in urban population, and growth of the stock exchange.
