Islamabad: Major players have shown keen interest to invest in Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) sector of Pakistan after seeing immense business potential of the commodity here, said official sources in the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources. They said that the government wanted to involve the private sector, adding that there would be “good news” in this regard in the next few weeks. Responding to a question, they said that LNG import from Qatar would not be affected unless there is any force majeure situation or any international sanctions. Sources said that Pakistan was already negotiating LNG import deals with countries including China, Turkey, Russia, Malaysia and Oman. “Pakistan will strike LNG deals with potential exporters.”
