PSQCA takes action against illegal brands, seals famous Dewaan Foods

LAHORE: On directions of Federal Minister for Science and Technology Rana Tanveer Hussain, Pakistan Standards & Quality Control Authority (PSQCA) sealed another illegal food brand on Monday.

Famous “Dewan Foods” situated at Mehmood Booti was working illegally, without acquiring the PSQCA licence. A special team was given the task to take action against big brands as part of recent crackdowns on illegal brands.

The company was preparing bottled drinking water, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, vinegar, curry powders (Biryani Masala etc.), jams, pickle, jellies and salt illegally.

According to PSQCA spokesman, following the orders of the federal minister, PSQCA DG Muhammad Khalid Siddiq gave the special task to the authority officers and directed them to take stern action against the companies working illegally and involved in preparing sub-standard items.

The special team of Conformity Assessment Central-II also issued warning notices to the shopkeepers, who were also involved in selling fake brands.

Deputy Director Asghar Ali asked shopkeepers to stop selling illegal brands; otherwise, their stocks would be confiscated.
