Development of ports imperative for trade, says maritime minister

Minister for Maritime Affairs, Syed Ali Haider Zaidi has stressed the need for expediting intra-governmental cooperation to achieve the target of exponential growth in exports.

He was talking to newsmen during his visit to the Karachi Port Trust and Pakistan National Shipping Corporation in Karachi. Minister for Railways, Sheikh Rashid Ahmad also accompanied him.

Ali Zaidi said the development of Pakistan’s ports as gateways to the region and requires extraordinary measures including freight corridors for efficient flow of goods within the country and landlocked neighboring countries.

He said the Minister for Railways also visited the sites for prospective railway lines connecting Port Qasim and Karachi Port Trust and supply of goods from other parts of the country.
