Govt increases petrol price by Rs2.5 per litre

ISLAMABAD: The government on Thursday revised the prices of various petroleum products for the month of March 2019.

According to a Finance Ministry notification, the prices of petrol have been increased by Rs2.5 per liter, bringing up the price of the product from Rs90.38 per liter to Rs92.88 per liter.

The price of high-speed diesel has also been raised by Rs4.75 to Rs111.43 per liter while that of kerosene oil has been revised upward from Rs82.31 per liter to Rs86.31 per liter, showing increase of Rs4 per liter.

On the other hand, the price of light diesel oil (LDO) has been reduced by Rs2.50 per liter, from Rs75.03 per liter to Rs77.53 per liter.

The notification stated that based on international oil prices, an increase of Rs4.71, Rs9.44, Rs8.06 and Rs5.12 per liter in the price of petrol, high-speed diesel, kerosene oil and light diesel oil was worked out, but the government decided not to pass on the full impact of the increase to the consumers and approved a reduced level of increase.
