ISLAMABAD: In the wake of the rising cases of coronavirus (Covid-190), Pakistan has reportedly approached the World Bank for $200 million (Rs32 billion) in loans to fight the deadly disease, a local newspaper reported.
The loan amount will be spent for enhancing the capacity of public hospitals and laboratories. Initially, Pakistan will request $140 million in loan from the World Bank and if the situation worsens, it wants to enhance upto $200 million.
Earlier, addressing to the nation over Radio and Television on Tuesday night, Prime Minister Imran Khan reiterated the government’s resolve to tackle challenges posed by Coronavirus through national joints efforts.
He said the government has realized the severity of the problem and all out steps are being taken to overcome the threats arising out of this pandemic.
