Pak-Afghan trade important for national economy: NA speaker

The speaker said both the countries should work to enhance government to government, people to people contacts

ISLAMABAD: National Assembly (NA) Speaker Asad Qaiser has stressed the need for increasing trade and cultural relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Talking on a local media channel on Sunday, he said the two countries should increase trade and culture relations with each other as Afghanistan has a significant role in Pakistan’s national economy.

“Both the countries should also work to enhance government to government and people to people contacts,” he said, adding that Pakistan had always played an important role for establishing peace in Afghanistan because a peace over there is in Pakistan’s favour.

In response to a question, he said that Pakistan would extend a warm welcome to Abdullah Abdullah who is heading the Afghanistan delegation for the peace process, adding that his visit would also be helpful for strengthening relations between two countries.

He said that Pakistan was formulating a new visa policy which would be helpful for further improving relations with each other.

To another question, he replied that Pakistan had always rendered sacrifices for Afghan refugees and has been serving them with open hearts from many years.
