PM directs enhanced facilities for Turkish investors to boost bilateral trade

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to increasing bilateral trade with Turkiye to $5 billion, as previously agreed upon with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

During a meeting with a delegation of prominent Turkish businessmen led by Turkish Minister for Customs and Trade Omer Bolat, the prime minister emphasised the importance of fostering closer economic ties between the two countries.

The prime minister directed relevant authorities to provide maximum facilities to Turkish investors in Pakistan, aiming to strengthen bilateral trade and investment cooperation. He highlighted the deep-rooted fraternal relationship between Pakistan and Turkiye, referring to the nations as “one nation, two states.”

PM Shehbaz also renewed his invitation for President Erdogan to visit Pakistan and expressed optimism that the Turkish investors’ visit would lead to increased investment in the country.

Turkish Minister Omer Bolat noted that 54 Turkish companies had already invested $3.5 billion in Pakistan and expressed satisfaction with Pakistan’s political and economic stability. The Turkish delegation also thanked Pakistan for its humanitarian aid following the 2023 earthquake in Turkiye.

The meeting was attended by Federal Ministers Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Muhammad Aurangzeb, Abdul Aleem Khan, Awais Leghari, and Pakistan’s Ambassador to Turkiye, Yousuf Junaid.
