FBR extends deadline for Sales Tax, Federal Excise Return submissions until April 25

Taxpayers granted extension for March 2025 returns, with due liabilities to be paid by the original due date

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has announced an extension for the submission of Sales Tax and Federal Excise Returns for the tax period of March 2025, moving the deadline to April 25, 2025.

FBR issued detailed instructions to Chief Commissioners of Inland Revenue, Large Taxpayers Offices (LTOs), Medium Taxpayers Offices (MTOs), Corporate Tax Offices (CTOs), and Regional Tax Offices (RTOs).

The extension applies to both Sales Tax and Federal Excise Returns for the tax period of March 2025, originally due on April 18, 2025. This extension is granted on the condition that the due sales tax liabilities are paid by the original due date.

Furthermore, the deadline for the Sales Tax and Federal Excise Return for February 2025, which was originally set for March 18, 2025 and later extended to April 13, 2025, has also been further extended to April 25, 2025, subject to the same condition regarding the payment of due liabilities.

These extensions are in line with the powers vested in the FBR under section 74 of the Sales Tax Act, 1990, and section 43 of the Federal Excise Act, 2005.
