Shibli Faraz inaugrates Export Display Centre at ICCI, pledges support to business community

ISLAMABAD: Information and Broadcasting Minister Syed Shibli Faraz has said that the business community is the lifeline of the economy and promotion of business activities is the key focus of the incumbent government.

This he said while addressing the business community after inaugurating a state-of-the-art auditorium in the Export Display Centre building of the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (ICCI) on Wednesday.

MNA Sajida Zulfiqar, Founder Group Chairman Mian Akram Farid, ICCI Senior Vice President Tahir Abbasi and Vice President Saifur Rehman Khan also present on the occasion.

Shibli Faraz said that business community should identify opportunities of joint ventures in foreign countries and the government would fully facilitate them in this regard. He said business community supported the government during the Covid-19 pandemic and the government was responsible for protecting their respect and honor in society.

He said that due to the wise decisions of the Prime Minister Imran Khan, economic activities have been restored in the country. He congratulated ICCI for constructing a state-of-the-art auditorium in its new building and stressed that federal ministers of finance, commerce and other business-related ministries should hold policy dialogues in this facility to make consensus economic policies.

He said that government would support ICCI in strengthening industry-academia linkages and entrepreneurship promotion.

In his welcome address, President ICCI Muhammad Ahmed Waheed said the basic purpose of constructing a state-of-the-art auditorium in the new building of ICCI was to hold policy dialogue with federal ministers on budget and other business-related policies.

He said that the business community was the fourth pillar of the economy and key stakeholder in the economic development of the country, therefore, the government should formulate economic policies in consultation with them that would put the country on the path of sustainable economic growth.
