ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has started holding tax education awareness sessions in educational institutes here in the federal capital under the directions of Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training Shafqat Mahmood and FBR Chairman Muhammad Javed Ghani.
The activity is being carried out under a Letter of Understanding (LoU) signed between the FBR and Federal Directorate of Education (FDE), said a statement issued by FBR here on Tuesday.
The first session was held in Islamabad Model College for Girls G-10/4 by the Facilitation and Taxpayer Education (FATE) Wing in collaboration with FDE.
The sessions are in line with the prime minister’s vision to promote tax culture and
FBR FATE Chief Aisha Farooq and FDE DG Zia Batool launched the first session, saying that they hoped such sessions would increase the knowledge of students about taxes and its significance in a country’s economic progress.
The FATE chief said that students would learn about the significance of paying taxes in their initial years through these sessions which would help them make responsible taxpayers in their later years.
“These students would also help spread the message of paying taxes,” she added.
Students were shown an informative and easy to understand presentation on the structure of the tax system and the significance in nation-building in the first session.
Later, they delivered speeches on the ‘importance of taxes’.
