Ban will be lifted if TikTok follows guidelines: minister

ISLAMABAD: Federal Information Technology (IT) Minister Aminul Haque has said that the recently placed ban on TikTok will be lifted once the talks with app’s management are finalized.

Haque said this while talking to newsmen after attending a ceremony on Wednesday. He said the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) is in talks with the TikTok management to have morally compromised and anti-state content removed from the app for good. If these matters are taken care of, the app will be available again, he added.

“We have given them some guidelines and are working on a mechanism on how to go ahead with the app in future,” Haque said, noting that once the matters are in final shape, the app will be given a green signal.
