ISLAMABAD: The National Highway Authority (NHA) has been working to modernise, upgrade and expand the nationalised road infrastructure in Balochistan for bringing the province at par with developed areas of the country.
In this regard, the APP on Monday released details of ongoing road development projects in the province.
According to the details, an amount of Rs10,000 million has been allocated for Zhob to Kuchlak Road which forms part of China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Western alignment under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) 2020-2021. The estimated cost of the project is Rs63,081 million.
The PSDP has similarly allocated Rs4,400 million for about 106 km of the two-lane highway from Basima to Khuzdar, Rs1,500 million for the construction of Yakmach-Kharan blacktop road via Dostain-Wadh-Khurmagai, Rs900 million have been allocated for Qila Saifullah Lora Lai Waigum Rud section of N70, out of which Rs750 million is foreign aid, Rs1,000 million and Rs500 million of foreign aid for the construction of Dera Murad Jamali Bypass, Rs 4,000 million for the construction of Hoshab-Awaran Section of M-8 (146 km), and Rs1,500 million for the Quetta Western Bypass.
All of the above mentioned funds are to be spent within the current fiscal year (FY21).
