Urea price in Pakistan nothing compared with int’l price: Fawad

Info minister says govt has no control over DAP prices

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain on Monday said that

urea in Pakistan was being sold for peanuts compared with what international market’s were charging.

In a tweet, he said that the official price of a urea bag in Pakistan was just Rs1,700 and Rs2,200 in the black market whereas it was being sold at Rs10,000 in the international market.

He added that Pakistan had to import DAP fertiliser and the government had no control over its price.

The minister further added that farmers had earned an additional Rs400 billion on five major crops due to the government’s policies.

“What else should the government do?” he questioned.
