Muslim World League, UNICEF sign $1.5mn deal to train Pakistani students in digital skills

Program aims to empower adolescents, especially girls, while addressing climate and digital challenges.

The Muslim World League (MWL) will financially support a “Green Skills Training Programme for Non-Formal Education Students” in Pakistan, aiming to equip adolescents, particularly girls, with vital green and digital skills to enhance their employability and contribute to sustainability.

As per reports, the initiative, to be implemented by UNICEF, will empower young learners with skills for a sustainable future. The MWL and UNICEF have formalized a $1.5 million agreement to bolster education and skill-building initiatives in Pakistan and Chad, alongside improving maternal, newborn, and childcare services in Afghanistan.

The agreement was signed by Abdullah A. Fadil, UNICEF Representative in Pakistan, and Dr. Shaima Alluqmani, MWL’s General Manager of Strategic Partnerships, during a global conference on the Muslim World League initiative hosted by Pakistan.

“The climate crisis and digital divide are significant challenges faced by children in Pakistan daily,” said Fadil, adding that empowering vulnerable children, especially girls, through education and skills, would enable them to achieve their potential and contribute to national prosperity.
