ISLAMABAD: Surgical goods and medical instruments worth $221.298 million were exported in the first seven months of the current financial year as compared to the corresponding period of the last year.
During the period from July-January 2017-18, the exports of medical goods and surgical instruments grew by 15.27 per cent as above mentioned commodities worth $221.298 million were exported as compared to the exports of $191.979 million in the same period last year.
Meanwhile, cutlery goods valuing $52.2 million were exported in the last seven months as compared to the exports of $46.224 million, showing an increase of 12.93 per cent during the period under review, according to Pakistan Bureau of Statistics.
During the period under review, Pakistan earned $615.824 million by exporting different chemicals and pharmaceutical products, up 31.1 per cent compared to the exports of $470.06 million in the same period last year.
In the last seven months exports of fertiliser manufacturers grew by 100 per cent as the country earned $43.488 million by exporting 198,214 metric tonnes of fertiliser against the exports of the corresponding period of last year.
During the period under review, other chemicals valued at $313.04 million were exported as compared to the exports of $217.690 million of the same period last year, hence showing an increase of 43.78 per cent.
On a month on month basis the exports of surgical goods and medical instruments also grew to $31.240 million in the month of January as compared to $27.644 million in the same month of the last year showing an increase of 13.1 per cent.
