‘Training of youth imperative for industrial growth’

ISLAMABAD: The government is striving hard to increase the skillsets of Pakistani youth so that the country could export skilled labour to the international market,” said Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development Zulfi Bukhari.

Addressing the Toyota Technical Education Program (T-TEP) Career Day at the Construction Technology Training Institute (CTTI) on Friday, Bukhari said, “Vocational training has provided an opportunity to the youth to excel in different fields and prove their mettle. The youth of Pakistan under the leadership of PM Imran Khan will help Pakistani industry compete internationally.”

The event was organised by Indus Motor Company for 150 students who were trained under Toyota’s flagship technical education program at CTTI.

Embassy of Japan Economic Counsellor Yuji Tokita said that such training programs would play a big role in developing human resources, which would be helpful for the development of industry in Pakistan.

In his address, IMC Chief Executive Ali Asghar Jamali said, “The main objectives of T-TEP included service to society by familiarising the young generation with the latest automobile technology and to create employment opportunities. Since the beginning of T-TEP in 2000, we have successfully invested more than 950,000 manhours, graduating 4,397 students successfully. IMC has given technical support to the institute with an investment of Rs20 million in shape of equipment and other facilities.”
