Inter-provincial coordination committee to discuss disputes on Sept 19

Islamabad: The federal government has called a meeting of the Inter-Provincial Coordination ComĀ­mittee (IPCC) on September 19 to resolve a host of burning issues of water and power sector etc., it was learnt from reliable sources.

The meeting, to be presided over by Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination Riaz Hussain Pirzada, will be attended by the four chief ministers as permanent members of the IPCC.

ā€œIn continuation of this ministryā€™s letter of even number, dated 07-09-2017, the minister for Inter Provincial Coordination in his capacity as Chairman IPCC has been pleased to convene the 26thĀ meeting of IPCC on 19thĀ September 2017 at 2.15 p.m. in the Committee Room, Cabinet Division, Cabinet Block, Islamabad,ā€ said the invite.

The government has called, on special invitation, Federal Minister for Water Resources, Minister of State for Petroleum, and federal minister for finance, revenue & economic affairs, besides the secretary petroleum division and secretary finance ministry. Solution of problems regarding energy and financial claims of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will be sought during the course of this meeting.

According to six-point agenda of 26thĀ meeting of the IPCC, access to real time electricity production in the country, usage by DISCOs (power distributing companies) duration of load shedding on feeders of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will be taken up in the meeting.

The meeting will also discuss at source adjustment of electricity duty by PEPCO (Pakistan Electric Power Company) against electricity dues of provincial government departments. Similarly, implementation of Kazi Committee Methodology (KCM) for calculation of net hydel profit, early signing of Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for Pehur Hydropower Project by CPPA-G and payment of arrears on account of electricity sold to PEPCO and financial claim of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa against Federal Board of Revenue in purview of memorandum of understanding (MoU) with regard to cross-adjustment of sales tax.
