Vivo commits to invest $30m in Pakistan

Lahore: Vivo has committed to investing $30m in Pakistan with the intention of becoming the country’s number one smartphone company.

In China, Vivo is ranked at third position and 5th globally, and on Wednesday it launched its camera focused smartphone V7+, which is equipped with a 24 megapixel selfie camera.

The company has several research and development besides 4 production units and is considered an upcoming brand with sales touching over the $80m mark in 2016.

Launch ceremony of Vivo V7+ was attended by an array of luminaries and distinguished personalities, which included people from the mainstream media, tv and film actors, retail and channel partners.

Aside Pakistan, Vivo sells its smartphones in several markets globally which includes China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, Russia, Philippines and Thailand.

While speaking on the occasion, President Vivo Head Office Mr. Ding said “Vivo’s success is backed by quality products, superior customer support and top user experience throughout the markets where we operate.”

He added that the entry of Vivo had led to increased competition amongst competitors vying for customers in a market with over 200m population. He also said that this will give more customers more options to select from and retailers will be able to offer more margins than ever.

Vivo Pakistan’s CEO, Eric Kong said, “Vivo is ranked as one of the top phone brands due to its elegant smartphone design, superb cameras, delightful music experience and latest technologies.”

Kong added that he sees enormous growth potential in the Pakistani market in terms of smartphone penetration, where only 40pc own the latter.
