TDAP takes part in the sourcing and fashion week in Ethiopia

KARACHI: Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) organised first Pakistan Pavilion at the fair in Ethiopia, Africa Sourcing and Fashion week from October 3-6, in which 12 fabric, home textiles and yarn manufacturers took part from Pakistan.

Out of the 12, half took part under the banner of TDAP.

Africa Sourcing and Fashion Week (ASFW) focused on sustainability and its central theme ‘sustainability in clothing’. It serves as a meeting point for garment manufacturers and the East African textile industry, focusing on apparel fabrics, leather, fashion accessories, home and contract textiles, technical textiles and the processing and care of textiles.

More than 250 international exhibitors from 25 countries worldwide participated in the fair. Visitors also looked forward to the annual fashion show with African creations as well as the designer conference where experts gave presentations on ‘International fashion – designed in Africa’. In terms of trend forecasting and analytics WSGN, an analytics company, presented future trends in women’s, men’s and children’s clothing while ‘Trend House’ showcased international trends made in Africa. The response of the exhibitors was very good and they showed interest for upcoming editions of the fair.

Pakistani companies who took part in the national pavilion organised by TDAP were; AU Trading, Kohinoor, Shafi Texcel, Zaman Textile under fabric, Rantex, and Siddiqsons under denim, Perfect Hometex, Spintex Enterprises, United Towel Exporters under home textiles, Al – Haram Enterprises under shawls & scarves, and Abtex International and M.S Industries under yarn.

The quality and presentation of the products by the exhibitors were exquisite. According to the exhibitors, the fair exceeded their expectations.

The next Texworld/Apparel Sourcing Paris Spring will be held from February 11-14, 2018. Texworld/Apparel Sourcing USA will be held in January and July 2018 while the Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics will be held from March 14-16, 2018.
