ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is said to have missed several of its goals under its 100-day agenda which included the creation of job creation strategy and clean drinking water for everyone.
An Express Tribune report states that the cabinet in a meeting held in October was apprised about various measures and their agenda alongside progress made till now on the first 100-day plan of the government.
During the meeting, it was highlighted that major progress had been made on most of the covered areas, however, some areas needed more concentration to meet the deadline.
The areas in which progress was not going as intended were put forth to the cabinet. Also, the government had included a development plan for the tribal areas.
The federal government has expressed to provide resources for the tribal area development, it expects provinces to provide 3% with each out of their allocated share in the National Finance Commission (NFC) award for this reason.
And it was highlighted in the cabinet meeting that to obtain financial resources, the NFC would be required to decide, however, the new commission hasn’t yet been constituted.
In spite repeated requests to provinces, they have refused to designate individuals till now for the setting up of the commission.
It was apprised that a national job creation strategy would have to be devised and announced by November 15th, 2018.
In this regard, no concrete measures have been taken. And to meet this objective, the various division would need to take initiatives under the supervision of the finance minister.
Also, these divisions would need to designate chief executive officers (CEOs) of various state-owned enterprises (SOEs) which fell under their administrative control.
Ironically, several of these enterprises remain absent without any CEOs.
And the cabinet instructed the adviser on the establishment to act as the main person and obtain data from the divisions of those SOEs which possessed no CEOs and provide information to the Prime Minister’s office.
Subsequently, all ministries would be provided with a clear deadline to fill those vacant posts.
Furthermore, the cabinet was informed of the legislative framework for creating the Pakistan Wealth Fund (PWF) would be endorsed by the Law Division in the next two weeks.
