IHC questions Ministry of OP&HRD regarding appointment of diplomatic attaches

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has directed the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development to reply within two weeks why seven candidates were rejected for the position of Community Welfare Attaches (CWA) in Pakistan Diplomatic Missions Abroad, it is learnt reliably.

Seven Officers belonging to different cadres had filed a petition in IHC against their rejection as CWA in Pakistan Diplomatic Missions Abroad.

The Ministry of OP&HRD had published an advertisement inviting applications from officers, who were BS-18 and BS-19, fulfilling the criteria mentioned therein to apply as CWA for posting in Pakistan Missions Abroad. Out of 410 candidates who appeared in the written test, only 11 candidates qualified.

Of the 11 candidates who qualified the written test, 4 were recommended for posting as CWA while the remaining seven, who are the petitioners of this case, weren’t nominated for CWA.

It is pertinent to mention here that federal cabinet had given approval to appoint Naveed Ahmad, Muhammad Afzal, Shaista Bunyad and Saqib Ali Khan for posting in New York, Barcelona, Athens, and Kuala Lumpur respectively.

On the other hand, PM had also granted an extension in the posting tenure of the CWAs posted in different countries till December 31, 2019.
