FBR confiscates non-duty paid cigarettes worth Rs3.1m 

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenues (FBR) Intelligence and Investigation Unit on Tuesday confiscated cartons of non-duty paid cigarettes worth Rs3.1 million.

According to sources, duties and taxes totaling Rs2.4 million are due on the confiscated stock of cigarettes. 

According to sources, Inland Revenue Enforcement Network Unit in Karachi had earlier received information that cigarettes on which duties and taxes had not been paid were stocked at a warehouse located in the Orangi area in Karachi. 

A team sent by the IREN found 114 cartons of such cigarettes at the warehouse which were confiscated on the spot.

According to sources the confiscated stock of cigarettes includes brands like Kisan, Champion, Cricket and Olympic.
