TEXPO 2024 secures $910 million in deals for exporters

TDAP's TEXPO 2024 secures $910 million in export orders, spotlighting Pakistan's growing textile reach on the global stage

The 5th International Textile & Leather Exhibition (TEXPO 2024) concluded successfully at the Karachi Expo Centre, with the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) announcing deals valued at over $910 million.

The high-stakes event attracted 527 foreign buyers from 60 countries and 272 exhibitors, reinforcing Pakistan’s textile and leather sectors on the global stage.

TDAP’s three-day event featured 1,969 B2B meetings and facilitated the signing of 10 memorandums of understanding (MoUs), highlighting its role as a key driver for Pakistan’s textile industry growth. TDAP organized the TEXPO to boost partnerships with non-traditional markets, drawing interest from new regions, and strengthening Pakistan’s export base.

Key discussions at the event focused on sustainability and innovation. Topics included “Green Threads: Weaving Sustainability into Pakistan’s Textile and Leather Sectors,” led by Economic Minister Omar Hameed from Brussels and Bianca Seidel of Bianca Seidel Consultancy.

Another session, “From Waste to Worth: Circular Innovations in Pakistan,” featured insights from Boudewijn MoI, Director of Bedding House, and REMIT’s Advisor Usman Khan.

The event concluded with a discussion on “Smart Moves: Transforming SMEs into Green Powerhouses,” including presentations by Yulia Bazhenova from GIZ, Cem Altan from the International Apparel Federation, Tayyab Naveed of UMT, and Aamir Chottani from Chottani Industries.

With international buyers’ confidence and TDAP’s strategic push for sustainability, TEXPO 2024 marks a pivotal achievement for Pakistan, strengthening its global trade position and elevating its textile and leather sectors.
