The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet, chaired by Finance Minister Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, approved a technical supplementary grant (TSG) of Rs23.434 billion to support the immunisation of over eight million children under two years of age against 12 vaccine-preventable diseases.

The grant comprises Rs23.20 billion for provincial share and Rs622.36 million for the federal share, allocated to the Federal Directorate of Immunization as part of Pakistan’s ongoing public health commitment.

The ECC, which met with the participation of key federal ministers, including Sardar Awais Ahmed Khan Leghari, Ali Parvez Malik, Jam Kamal Khan, and Rana Tanveer Hussain, as well as senior officials from various ministries, also approved several other TSGs for ongoing projects in the health, education, and infrastructure sectors.

The committee emphasised the importance of prioritising the allocation of future TSGs as the fiscal year’s fourth quarter begins. It reiterated the need for effective resource utilisation to ensure that public funds are used efficiently across all sectors.

Key approvals included:

  • Rs9 billion for the Finance Division: This grant will address grants, subsidies, and miscellaneous expenditures for fiscal year 2024-25.
  • Rs50 million for the National Commission for Human Rights: The funds will support initiatives proposed by the Ministry of Human Rights.
  • Rs1.06 billion for the “Transformation to National Forensic Agency” project: This grant will ensure the completion of the project by June 30, 2025.
  • Rs264.8 million for the maintenance and repair of government buildings: These funds will be used for buildings transferred from the Pakistan Public Works Department (PAK-PWD) to the Capital Development Authority (CDA), with a directive for the CDA to optimise the use of these resources.
  • Rs3.57 billion for the establishment of a 1,000-bed academic medical center: The funds will support the Jinnah Medical Complex and Research Centre Company in building a center featuring excellence in research, education, and healthcare.
  • Rs54.5 billion for the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training: This grant is aimed at supporting the Danish Education Trust to provide high-quality higher education to underprivileged students across the country.

The ECC reaffirmed its commitment to advancing critical public welfare projects, strengthening infrastructure, and bolstering key sectors like health, education, and forensic services.

The committee emphasized the continued focus on ensuring that these grants are effectively utilized for the benefit of Pakistan’s citizens.
