PIA suspends Canada flights for three weeks amid Boeing 777 overhaul

Airline says mandatory 10-year maintenance aims to ensure safety ahead of expected passenger surge

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has announced the temporary suspension of its Canada-bound flight operations this month as its Boeing 777 long-range aircraft undergo mandatory maintenance.

The special Boeing 777s, capable of nonstop flights of up to 17 hours across the Atlantic, will be grounded for a comprehensive three-week technical inspection, which includes the replacement of critical parts. The airline noted that such deep maintenance is required once every ten years.

PIA said the measure is intended to ensure the fleet’s readiness for an anticipated rise in passenger numbers in the coming months.

“While we regret the inconvenience to our passengers, their safety and the complete fitness of our aircraft remain our top priority,” a PIA spokesperson emphasized.
