The Pakistan Sugar Mills Association (PSMA) has sent a third letter to the federal ministers for finance and national food security, requesting immediate intervention to address the closure of the Federal Board of Revenue’s (FBR) S-Track portal, which has disrupted sugar sales.
A PSMA spokesperson stated that the association has been consistently raising concerns over the stoppage of sugar sales due to the portal’s closure.
Several letters have been sent to both ministers, urging them to direct the FBR to unblock the portal and remove restrictions to facilitate the smooth transfer of sugar from mills to markets.
The spokesperson highlighted that the portal has been intermittently switching on and off for the past few weeks, which has never occurred before, exacerbating the challenges faced by the industry.
