The Field Enforcement Unit (FEU) in Rakhni, operating under the Collectorate of Customs (Enforcement), Quetta, successfully intercepted a major smuggling attempt, recovering a large quantity of foreign-origin cigarettes concealed beneath a coal load.
The operation, based on reliable intelligence, led to the interception of a Hino truck, registration number TTD-853, which was suspected of transporting coal. Upon inspection near Rakhni, customs officials discovered 188 cartons of smuggled cigarettes hidden under the coal, valued at approximately Rs 23.5 million.
In total, the seized goods and the vehicle used for transportation were estimated to be worth Rs 38.5 million, with the truck itself valued at Rs 15 million. Both the cigarettes and the vehicle have been seized and moved to the customs warehouse for further legal action under the Customs Act, 1969.
The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has praised the Rakhni enforcement team for their effective response, emphasizing the government’s ongoing efforts to combat smuggling, safeguard national revenue, and ensure the protection of lawful trade in Pakistan.
