3876 metric tonnes of wheat worth exported during 2016-17

ISLAMABAD

About 3,876 metric tons of wheat worth US$ 1.24 million was exported during eleven months of last financial year (2016-17).

According the data of Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, wheat exports from the country during the period under review witnessed 548.10 per cent increase as against the same period of last year.

The wheat exports from the country during first 11 months of last financial year were recorded at 450 metric tons valuing US$ 158,000.

Meanwhile, country earned US$ 158.725 million by exporting about 302,795 metric ton of sugar as against the exports of 293,541 metric tons valuing US$ 132.284 million of same period of last year.

During the period from July-May, 2016-17, 20,986 metric tons of spices worth US$ 76.86 million were exported as against the exports of US$ 18,731 metric tons of US$ 72.163 million of same period last year.

In 11 months of last financial year sugar exports from the country grew by 19.99 per cent as compared the exports of the corresponding period of last year.

The exports of leguminous vegetables (pulses) exports from the country grew by 100 per cent as about 606 metric tons of the above mention commodity worth US$ 528,000 exported.

It may be recalled here that food group exports from the country reduced by 7.54 per cent and reached at US$ 3.426 billion in 11 months of last as compared the exports of US$ 3.704 billion of corresponding period of last year.
