Pakistan-China to launch new electric bikes with swappable batteries

The collaboration also plans to extend this swappable battery technology to the 3-wheeler commercial market.

ISLAMABAD: In a major step towards sustainable transportation, Pakistani and Chinese companies have teamed up to launch an electric motorcycle featuring swappable batteries. This collaboration is expected to drive further advancements in the electric vehicle (EV) sector between the two nations, according to a report published by Gwadar Pro on Sunday.

Hammad Khalid, a business consultant, announced the exciting partnership between Pakistan’s Super Asia Motors Pvt Ltd and China’s EGO New Green Energy Technology Limited. Together, they are introducing an innovative electric motorcycle equipped with swappable batteries, designed to serve both commercial and domestic customers.

The collaboration also plans to extend this swappable battery technology to the 3-wheeler commercial market.

Hammad explained that the swappable battery system allows users to replace an empty battery with a fully charged one in just 10 seconds, ensuring uninterrupted journeys and extended range. This feature also enables users to bring the battery indoors for charging. For longer trips, riders can carry an extra battery, which can be swapped at home or the office.

The newly launched motorcycle offers several key features, including a top speed of 90 km/h, a range of 200 km with two batteries, and swappable solar-powered batteries available at petrol stations. Additionally, it can save up to 70% per kilometer in travel costs, providing a strong, reliable, and eco-friendly mode of transportation.

“This cutting-edge project introduces state-of-the-art technology to Pakistan, focusing on the local development of components and parts. It also underscores our commitment to clean energy and job creation in Pakistan,” Hammad added.

In recent years, Pakistan and China have collaborated to promote electric motorcycles in Pakistan, aiming to encourage eco-friendly transportation and reduce carbon emissions. Numerous Chinese companies, in partnership with local Pakistani firms, are expanding Pakistan’s electric vehicle industry. The introduction of these electric motorcycles is expected to significantly reduce travel costs for consumers while contributing to a greener, more sustainable future.
