Pakistan and UAE discuss public sector innovation and cooperation

Pakistan’s potential in multiple sectors and expressed the UAE’s willingness to support joint efforts, says UAE’s Deputy Minister of Cabinet Affairs

ISLAMABAD: Ambassador Faisal Niaz Tirmizi of Pakistan met with Abdulla Nasser Lootah, UAE’s Deputy Minister of Cabinet Affairs for Competitiveness and Experience Exchange, in Dubai on Monday.

The meeting focused on cooperation in governance, public sector competitiveness, and innovation.

Tirmizi expressed appreciation to Lootah for the opportunity to engage in dialogue and acknowledged the strong historical and fraternal ties between Pakistan and the UAE. He also praised the UAE’s leadership for creating an inclusive development model and supporting the Pakistani diaspora.

The ambassador thanked the UAE for hosting a high-level Pakistani delegation led by Bilal Azhar Kiyani, Minister of State for Finance and Railways and Head of the Prime Minister’s Delivery Unit.

The delegation is attending a two-day experience exchange programme with UAE ministries on July 8 and 9, focusing on innovation in governance and public service delivery.

Lootah reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment to continued collaboration with Pakistan and highlighted the importance of mutual learning to find solutions that benefit both countries. He noted Pakistan’s potential in multiple sectors and expressed the UAE’s willingness to support joint efforts.

Tirmizi said that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has shown strong interest in learning from the UAE’s tax automation systems to improve Pakistan’s domestic tax collection. He added that the prime minister has directed officials to make full use of the knowledge-sharing opportunity with the UAE.
