PESHAWAR: Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi on Monday expressed dissatisfaction with the ongoing electricity load shedding and low voltage problems affecting residents across the province and directed officials to take immediate action to address the issues.
Chairing a meeting with officials from WAPDA and PESCO, the governor said the current situation was unacceptable and urged authorities to respond to public complaints and improve electricity supply. He also emphasized that load shedding schedules must be managed to avoid disruptions to water supply schemes, especially during the summer months.
During the briefing, WAPDA officials informed the governor about recovery operations in Dera Ismail Khan, the construction of new grid stations, coordination issues with FESCO related to the Balochistan Power Supply Project (Bilot), and other matters.
The governor raised concerns about a shortage of staff in PESCO, calling it unfair to both the public and the department. He instructed that a letter be sent to the federal government to request fulfilment of staffing requirements for better service delivery.
Governor Kundi called for the quick installation of machinery at the Bandkurai Grid Station to reduce load shedding and low voltage complaints by improving load distribution. He also directed WAPDA authorities to work with local elders to find solutions to power issues and noted that poor recovery is a main cause of load shedding, even in areas where consumers pay their bills.
