PSO’s Rs40bn cards division honoured with the PMI Award

KARACHI: Pakistan State Oil Company Limited (PSO) has been honoured by Pakistan Chapter of the Project Management Institute – USA, by declaring it the winner/runner-up of the Project Management Professional Award 2017. The announcement came from a ceremony organised to celebrate the International Project Management Day at the PMI’s Karachi Chapter.

PSO Cards Division Team participated in the contest to showcase its project “End to End Solution for PSO Cards Business” under the award category “Project of the Year”. The project aimed to benefit PSO Fuel Cards customers by improving operational efficiencies of the system and enriching card products by introducing new features with migration to a strong platform to build on future initiatives under the umbrella of ‘Fuel Management Solutions’.

PSO Managing Director and CEO Sheikh Imranul Haque said “PSO runs the largest fuel card system worth over Rs 40 billion in Pakistan. The PMI’s winning/runner-up project from PSO successfully migrated entire back-end and front-end technology of PSO ‘Fuel Management Solution’ that supports more than 130,000 chip based smart PSO fuel cards on a network infrastructure available on more than 1,200 countrywide PSO retail outlets. The migration of Pakistan’s largest fuel card system with a ‘big-bang’ approach was not an easy task. I commend team PSO who successfully and seamlessly migrated the system to rapidly scalable cloud infrastructure which is capable of handling present demand and future business growth needs. The project has helped PSO to achieve an environmentally friendly paperless system. The development of new service delivery channels through the introduction of web-based customer portal and mobile application, FUELLINK, PSO has achieved business efficiencies by drastically improving the average transaction time.”
