Cotton scientists for complete elimination of pink bollworm, white-fly

MULTAN: The Punjab Agriculture and Research Board (BARB) has decided to launch various schemes for the elimination of pink bollworm and whitefly from cotton fields.  The schemes would be short, medium and long terms.

This was decided in a meeting of scientists from Muhammad Nawaz Sharif University of Agriculture, Cotton Research Centre and Central Cotton Research Institute, here on Tuesday.

The meeting was chaired by Muhammad Nawaz Sharif University of Agriculture Sciences Vice-chancellor Dr Asif Ali. The scientists were working under the umbrella of Punjab Agriculture and Research Board.

It was decided that more funds would be sought for adopting these measures. It was also decided to launch a survey and also impart training to students. The participants of the meeting also expressed resolve to ensure the elimination of cotton sticks from agricultural fields.

On this occasion, Cotton Research Station Director Dr Sagher Ahmed, PCCC Director Dr Tasawar, Dr Zulfiqar, Dr Irfan Baig, Dr Shafqat Hussain and others were also present.
