SBP allows advance import payments on open account basis

KARACHI: The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has allowed the advance import payments up to $10,000 or equivalent per invoice and imports on open account basis up to the said limit against lifesaving drugs, medical instruments, aircraft parts, newspapers, magazines and books etc.

Through a circular, the SBP said that the lifesaving drugs and devices are subject to submission of a certificate to the authorities issued by respective provincial health department confirming that the medicines/devices instruments to be imported fall under lifesaving/essential category.

Earlier, the state bank through had restricted advance payments against imports and imports on open account basis respectively.

In this regard, it has been decided to allow advance import payments up to $10,000 or equivalent per invoice and imports on open account basis up to the said limit against the following items:

Conditions on all other terms, conditions and instructions in the matter shall remain unchanged.
