Govt to cut down its expenses by 10pc

In line with the government’s austerity drive, the finance ministry on Tuesday issued a notification announcing a ban on new postings and the purchase of vehicles by state departments.

According to the notification, only law enforcement agencies (LEAs) would be allowed to purchase new vehicles for operational purposes while government officials would only be entitled to one newspaper a day. The federal government has also asked the secretaries of all its departments to devise strategies to cut costs.

It is worth mentioning here that leading the austerity drive, Prime Minister Imran Khan, after taking the oath of office, decided against living in the Prime Minister House and ordered the auction of all its vehicles.
