PIA approves new policy for cabin crew

The Pakistan International Airline (PIA) has approved a new policy for ground jobs of cabin crew, a private media outlet reported on Saturday.

PIA Chief Executive Officer Air Marshal Arshad Malik has given the approval for the new policy, which would be applicable for permanent and contractual employees, read a notification issued in this regard.

As per the notification, an application could only be submitted for ground service upon completion of 10 years of service. The airline management would itself decide to appoint cabin crew in any department. Following the approval of the management for ground job, the employee would not be allowed for flight service.

“Employees will be bound to perform the duty and shift assigned to them on ground service,” said the notification. “They could be called for flight duty, when needed.”

Selected and top performers from the cabin crew may be deputed on ground jobs only within Flight Services Department purely on company requirement with valid justification.

They may be called back for flying duties subject to the company requirement, the company circular read.

“The grounded cabin crew will mark their attendance through TMS and all rules of leave/ promotions etc, shall be applicable to the grounded crew as applicable to admin category employees,” it added.
