Cutlery exports drop 9.4pc in FY20

Pakistan exported cutlery worth $82.6m in FY20, as compared to $91.2m last year

ISLAMABAD: The export of cutlery from the country witnessed a decrease of 9.39pc during the fiscal year 2019-20, as compared to the corresponding period of last year.

According to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), Pakistan exported cutlery worth $82.638 million in FY20, as against the exports of $91.205 million in FY19.

Meanwhile, on a year-on-year basis, the cutlery exports decreased by 19.17pc in June 2020 as compared to the same month of last year. Cutlery exports were recorded at $5.917 million in June 2020, as compared to $7.320 million in June 2019.

On a month-on-month basis, however, the export of cutlery witnessed a growth of 23.32pc in June 2020, as compared to the exports of $4.798 million in May 2020.

It is pertinent to mention that the country’s trade deficit witnessed a significant reduction of 27.12pc in FY20 as compared to the corresponding period of last year.

The country’s overall exports dropped by 6.81pc to $21.394 billion YoY, whereas imports plunged by 18.61pc to $44.574 billion.
