Five companies from Pakistan make Forbes “Best under a billion list”

Lahore: Forbes Asia has listed five companies from Pakistan in its “Best under a Billion List” which it published on the 26th of July.  The companies chosen are Agriauto Industries, Cherat Packaging, Ferozsons Laboratories, Ghandara Industries and Searle Company.

The methodology that Forbes uses is to monitor traded Asia-Pacific companies with annual revenues not crossing the $1b mark. From a pool of 18,000 companies, 875 made the cut in terms of low indebtedness, profitability and growth. Further downsizing the list down to the top 200, it represents those with the highest turnover and earnings per share growth over a period of one to three years.

Agriauto Industries Ltd is a manufacturer and seller of parts for automotive vehicles, motorcycles and agricultural tractors. It was founded in 1981 and headquartered in Karachi. Its market cap stands at $105m.

Cherat Packaging is in the business of selling, manufacturing and marketing of polythene and polypropylene bags to the local cement industry in Pakistan. Its market cap stands at $66m and came into inception in 1991 and headquartered in Karachi.

Ferozsons Laboratories is involved in the business of trading and manufacturing of pharmaceutical products, with a market cap of $102m. It was incepted in 1954 and has its headquarters in Lahore.

Ghandara Industries is an automobile manufacturer which includes trucks, buses and pickups. It has a reported revenue of $54m and its market cap stands at $113m. It was founded in 1963 and is headquartered in Karachi.

Searle Co. Ltd produces and manufacturers pharmaceutical products. It is also involved in selling of food and consumer items alongside manufacturing pharmaceutical items for various companies. It has a reported revenue of $108m and has a market cap of $696m. It was founded in 1965 and is also headquartered in Karachi.
