Sindh to train officers in anti-money laundering and computer crimes

KARACHI: Provincial Minister for Excise and Taxation and Narcotics Control Mukesh Kumar Chawla has said that the Sindh government is making proper arrangements to train its officers to combat the new techniques of the criminals and to equip them with modern technology.

This he said while presiding over a meeting in his office.  Excise and Taxation and Narcotics Control Secretary Abdul Haleem Shaikh, Director General Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui and other officers also attended the meeting.

The minister asked the secretary and the director general to provide the best training to the officers regarding anti-money laundering and computer-based crime scene investigation, drug organised crime and money laundering so that they might be able to handle the criminals in an efficient manner. He was sure that unless the officers were fully trained, it would not be possible to catch the ‘big fishes’ of money laundering cases and smuggling of narcotics.

On the occasion, DG Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui informed the meeting that arrangements for the training of the officers had been made at Islamabad Anti-Narcotics Force Academy and it would benefit the excise and taxation ministry officers well.

Mukesh Chawla also expressed his satisfaction over the training arrangements.
